New Stuff

Here’s a few happenings from my neck of the woods:

  1. The new Harris Teeter and Target have opened up in the Blakeney Green area.  I think this will save me a grand total of 6 minutes each Saturday morning as compared to going to Stonecrest.

  2. Both Success and Uncle Ben’s now have microwaveable rice.  I don’t know how long these have been out, but I just discovered them.  I’ve tried both, and both are pretty good.  Go with the Uncle Ben’s if you’re feeding 2-3 people.  Success comes in individual serving contains, and only needs to be nuked for 60 seconds (as compared to 90 for Uncle Ben’s).  Personally, I mix in some ketchup for a tasty side dish.

  3. Thanks to everyone who chipped in the dating suggestions.  It was also nice to get a bit of a response.  I’m a little disappointed that no one knows Monica Seles, but I figured I didn’t have anything to lose.

  4. I’m looking forward to the end of the seasons for West Wing and 24.  I’ve enjoyed them, but now with baseball season going, I think they’re just going to get in the way.

Speaking of 24, I’m off to watch that now.

So, are you suggesting the Pope might be a good date for Derek? Hm.

And Derek, how did the first week back at TNG go? Your public awaits.

Hi. Microwaveable rice is the devil. Vile, vile, vile. It tastes like pink egg cartons. *wise nod*

If it can't be made in a microwave (or on the Foreman grill), it's not going to get made. Being allergic to poultry, I don't buy many eggs, and haven't taken the opportunity try eating egg cartons. How do the pink ones differ from the white or yellow cartons? If they're good, I may ask about the cost of only the carton without the eggs.
