Response, or Lack Thereof

Gee whiz, guys. It seems like the more frequently I post, the fewer comments I get. I’m not sure why that is. Even when I put up some newsworthy material, it seems like Ann’s the only one who bothers to respond.

Be that as it may, there’s a couple of events I probably need to catch everyone up on. You already know about my return to TNG, since I posted that earlier in the week, so I’ll move on to other stuff:

1. I rolled 87,000 miles on my car last Sunday. I’m wondering what my odds are of getting it to 150,000. With everything I’m paying off now, it’s gonna be a while before that gets replaced.

2. I’ve played over 5100 games of Freecell in the last 15 months. I’m winning 83% of them, and my longest winning streak is 51 in a row. Wow, assuming each game takes 3 minutes, that’s over 10.6 DAYS of Freecell. Of course, I will often play when I’m on the phone, so it’s not like I’m not doing anything else.

3. Now that I’ve been playing basketball again for the last few weeks, I do feel like I’m in a better rhythm when I go out there. That said, I miss playing shortstop.

Since I’ve been griping about the lack of response, I’ll put a question out in the field that should generate a little interest:

If you were going to force me to go on a date with someone, who would it be, and why?

This can be someone famous, but doesn’t have to be. And don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a request. I’m just curious to gain some insight into how my readership thinks.

Have a good weekend folks. And for those of you at TNG, I’ll see you on Tuesday.

Karol, my comment wasn't aimed at you, as you've probably been the second most active in putting comments up. Rob, Casey, Erin, and whoever else has been lurking in the background--those are the people I was aiming at.

Interesting comments, though. Rob and I don't have lunch near as often anymore, so that may be less of an issue now.

Probably not immediately, as the first few days of the month are when he gets slammed at work. Plus, he's working with a bit of an injury at the moment.

As for a name, I am thinking that the requirements Karol put together are going to be pretty darn hard unless you get someone like Eva Longoria. But I don't know if she is intelligent. Yep, I think that would be the only name I can come up with, but I think she is taken. Alas! We were SO CLOSE.

Well, that would explain why Rob is not commenting on my blog. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

Hm, that's not giving a whole lot to the intelligence argument. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

Well, I give you credit for coming up with a name. I think I'm with Ann on the assessment.

Since we're talking celebrities, if anyone would be willing to introduce me to Monica Seles (or knows of someone who would be), that I'd be interested in.

Casey,

Freecell is kinda like Solitaire, but different, and far easier to win. Look under Start> Programs> Games.

Hillary Swank is one I hadn't thought much about. The Hollywood thing is a bad start (I think your IQ drops 10-15 points just by moving to SoCal). The athleticism would seem to be there between Karate Kid 12 (or whichever one that was) and the boxing movie I never saw. I think I'd have to put her in the "OK" category. Not bad, just not one that grabs my attention either.

I say an older and wiser woman. You definitely do not need a younger one. I would put (force)you with someone that is ready to settle down, which may scare you because you may not be ready for this. But, a girl who would be open to watch basketball or do your wash while you watch basketball. She must like pizza (which by the way- I would never date a girl who does not like pizza either). She must be well-versed on a wide range of interests and subjects --such as you are. She must also enjoy watching baseball. I think your future wife's profession would be: news/sports broadcaster--though stay away from the girl on Channel 14 (Heather Childers) she is mine!-or a college professor.

As for a famous woman---

Carly Simon (too old and too liberal probably) atleast she can sing to you.
Joyce Dewitt from 3s Company--she seems very pleasant.

I think that Jennifer Aniston could be a match --though she is probably a liberal too--but at least you can introduce her as "this is my girlfriend Jennifer--she says I am better in bed than Brad Pitt."

This lady might not exist --but may be purchased via a Russian Bride internet site.

p.s. Steve thinks Whoopi Goldberg is your type-----

I'd like to take a crack at this one. Your ideal woman should be a baseball fan and must love college basketball. She must also participate in various sports. She must be intelligent and appreciate your sense of humor. I'm sure she's out there somewhere. I would try EHarmony.com.

Just so you don't weasel out of the Karol's question - Let's say that money was not an issue as it may be at the moment. If you would take her, where would you take her?

In fact, if we got you a date, I bet most of us would chip in some money just to see it happen.

Seems I've got a few comments to catch up on:

Kevin: Having DirecTV, I don't get channel 14, so I haven't seen Heather. You might be on something with the broadcaster, though. Anyone know Bonnie Bernstein? And without going into too much depth, Carly Simon, Joyce DeWitt, and Whoopie Goldberg are all non-starters. And you've really lost it if you think I'm actually going to spend money to import someone into the country. I will agree with you on the pizza, baseball, and basketball observations. As far as Jennifer Aniston, she was my pick on the Aniston-Jolie discussion y'all had a few weeks back, and I could do far worse. Let's just say I'm not holding my breath.

Carol: I have my doubts on things like eHarmony. I tend to be a bit too quirky.

Karol (and I'm guessing, Mom with the follow-up comments): Where would I go? Hmm, can't say I'd thought about that much. I guess it kind of depends on timing. I'd probably prefer something like a baseball or hockey game. If it needs to be something with more active involvement, skydiving would be cool. The only trick is that's not something you can really SURPRISE someone with. You need to give warning about that.

I have finally resurfaced, injury and all. I have kind of fallen of the face of the bloggin world for a while, sorry. Don't take it personal.
How can we have a discussion about potential dates for Derek without bringing up Kathy Ireland, and Shania Twain. Ok, the Kathy Ireland of the 1980's, before the kids (although she still looks pretty good) and her marriage with Billy Joel going south.
I have no real knowledge on the intelegence factor, the interest in sports, or the political leans of either. But my guess is, for a first date (since we aren't really talking marriage here) Derek wouldn't care too much.

That was Christie Brinkley married to Billy Joel, not Kathy Ireland. As far as I know, Kathy's still married. Kathy's also a Dodgers fan, which is less of a problem now than it used to be.

Actually, Danica's already married, to someone about 3 years older than me.
